Tongits uses a standard 52-card deck. Three players each receive 12 cards; the dealer gets 13. The remaining cards form the draw pile in the center.
On your turn, draw a card from the pile or pick up the top discard. Then discard one card face-up. You may also lay down melds — sets or sequences — before discarding.
A set is three or four cards of the same rank (e.g., three Queens). A run is three or more consecutive cards in the same suit. Laid-down melds reduce your hand count.
If you empty your hand completely — every card in a valid meld — you win outright by declaring "Tongits!" No other player can challenge this win.
Any player may "call a fight" (call a draw) after the dealer's first turn — but only if you have at least one meld on the table. All players count remaining hand points; lowest wins.
If a player discards a card that can legally be added to an opponent's meld, that opponent may "burn" — take the card immediately and add it to their laid meld outside the normal turn order.
